Becca Hume, a Multidisciplinary Design MA graduate, founded TapSOS in 2016 with a clear mission: to make emergency services accessible to everyone. Her inspiration came from a conversation with a Deaf colleague, which opened her eyes to a critical issue—people who cannot speak on the phone do not have equal access to 999 services.
Determined to create a solution, Becca realised that communication barriers extend beyond the Deaf community. Many people may struggle to make a voice call in an emergency, whether due to medical conditions, dangerous situations, or physical obstructions. This led her to develop TapSOS—an app that allows users to contact emergency services with a few simple taps.
TapSOS is now the first and only government-accredited 999 app that connects users to all four UK emergency services. By transforming the way people seek help, Becca and her team are working towards a safer world where technology ensures that support is always within reach—no matter the situation.

Les began his career at the General Post Office/BT before running his own business for 25 years. A respected business leader with a passion for social justice. Les holds an MSc in Marketing and is a Fellow of the Institute of Marketing. He believes in the power of collaboration and strives to inspire others to work towards a more inclusive and equitable society.

Jonny is a Chartered Engineer and tech leader with a PhD, known for building high-performing international teams. With expertise in social media, cybersecurity, and cloud platforms, he advises universities, champions diversity in tech, and supports indigenous SMEs. Passionate about innovation and inclusivity, he continues to drive impact across the industry.

Paul is a Full Stack Developer at Inclutech with a passion for front-end development, specialising in TypeScript and React Native. Diana is the Lead User Experience Designer at Inclutech, specialising in user-centered research and design. With a master's degree in User Experience and Service Design, she is passionate about creating intuitive, accessible solutions that truly meet user needs. Diana works closely with grassroots organisations to ensure her designs are shaped by real-world experiences.
